~A Message from the Counseling Department~

Our roles as school psychologist and social workers are to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. We work closely with parents, teachers and administration in order to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment at Center Road School.  Our responsibilities include helping students develop the skills necessary for school success, such as organization, time management, study skills, and social skills. We also provide students with a safe place to share their feelings, fears and concerns that may affect them while they are at school. We work with teachers to identify strategies and resources to improve student behavior as well as academic performance.

Speech & Language Services
Nicole Williams

~A Message from the Speech Language Pathologist~

As a speech-language pathologist, I provide a wide range of services to help the students at Center Road School. I work with students to improve articulation of speech sounds in order to be better understood. I also work to improve expressive communication by helping students effectively verbalize their ideas and needs, learn new vocabulary and use accurate word choices. I work to improve receptive language by helping students better understand spoken or written language, answer questions and follow directions. I may also work with some students to address any social communication barriers they may have in order to promote positive relationships between peers. I work closely with parents, regular education and special education teachers to develop and address goals that will be most beneficial for the success of our students.

Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Services

~A Message from the OT/PT Department~

"School-based therapists focus on assisting students to acquire the functional abilities necessary to access educational materials and adapt to their educational environment. They may help students with daily activities related to educational participation, adapt the performance context, teach alternative methods, or facilitate the use of assistive devices. [Occupational Therapists and] Physical Therapists in schools work with other educational professionals, members of the community, and families to help all students engage in their educational activities. This collaboration is also the foundation for prompting the participation of students with disabilities in the general educational environment."
