MSS - Pupil Personnel Services

Sarah Zahner Allison Dalton
Physical Therapist Occupational Therapist

We are looking forward to providing physical therapy services in our new classroom located next to the library. Students with gross motor difficulties can receive school-based physical therapy to improve their ability to fully access their school environment. We develop programs to increase core strength helping to maintain good posture during classroom activities and advance overall coordination. In addition developing balance and endurance helps them to travel safely throughout the school and playground.

School-based occupational therapy is designed to increase the student's ability to access and be successful in their learning environment. This might include working on handwriting, visual perceptual skills or fine motor coordination for written assignments, helping the child organize himself or herself in the environment and/or working with the teacher to modify the classroom and/or adapt learning materials to facilitate successful participation. Students who qualify for services may receive direct and/or consultative services. They may be seen in their classrooms or in the separate OT room; they may be seen individually or in small groups. OT's work closely with the students teachers, parents, and other professionals to help students fully participate in school activities.

Megan Duffy Elizabeth Terrell
Social Worker School Psychologist
Megan Duffy is our School Social Worker and Lizzie Terrell is our School Psychologist at Maple Street School. Our role is to meet with children, talk with parents, consult with teachers and be a part of team meetings when discussing a student's social, behavioral, or emotional needs here at school. Sometimes we work with individual children or small groups to help meet some of those needs. We may also present classroom lessons around topics that are consistent with our core PBIS values (Be safe, Everyone cares, Always respectful, Responsible). We are also here to be a resource in the school for day-to-day issues that might arise, and to link our students and families to community resources that might be of assistance.

Speech and Language Pathologist

As a speech and language pathologist (SLP) at Maple Street School, I provide services that address improving communication skills for students in preschool through fifth grade. These services may be delivered individually, within small groups, in the regular education classroom or within a related services room depending on student needs.  Goals and objectives address enhancing skills in articulation, fluency, voice, expressive language, receptive language or pragmatic language. Consultation with teachers and support staff is an important aspect in providing communication strategies for students.
