Message from the Principal
It is with great pride to announce that Northeast Elementary School has been recognized in 2012-13 and 2013-14 as a School of Distinction by the State. This is the result of staff, students and by parents supporting their child’s education. The NES Community continues to pursue its three overarching goals: to build a safe, supportive and purposeful school culture that brings out the best in children and adults; to establish instructional practices and academic programs that accelerate student growth in reading, math, and writing; and to promote productive Parent involvement in at-home learning and school activities.
These two years have been particularly challenging, making changes and adjusting to a new community can be difficult. I am grateful for fully engaged Teachers and Support Staff who bring great pride in the traditions of this longstanding school, while flexibly adapting to the changes that our Students demand. The essence of NES is learning, and learning doesn’t happen at the pace it should without great Classroom Teachers, Para Educators, Special Educators, Unified Arts Teachers, Tutors, and Support Staff. The steady passion and persistence of all is critical.
At NES, we want to convey to our children that their education is essential. We want them to believe that that everyone can learn and grow, everyone can make up lost ground if necessary, and everyone can excel in his or her own unique way. Expectations for our children are high, while we build their self-confidence without anxiety.
As we welcome the challenge of the Common Core and Smarter Balance testing, we are confident NES will continue with an upward trajectory in student achievement. Learning at NES is a partnership between the Student, the Teacher and Staff, and the Family. NES is a community of caring adults, a family that always treats each other with respect and honesty and with words and actions that are driven by a common desire to do what’s best for all NES Students. Our tendency is to ask what we can do for NES, rather than the other way around. I’m proud to be part of this partnership!
